Network Connection Chart for Home

Connect the CM-4 to the router or the Access point in the house.  The storage space on the CM-4 becomes available to all PC’s and devices connected to the home network.  Devices that can handle media content available on the network, can now have access to almost unlimited storage capacity. PC’s with TV Tuners or Media Center PC’s can direct their content to this storage space.

Network Connection Chart for Office

Connect the CM-4 to the router or the access point in the office.  You can have a simple configuration where all users on the network have complete access to the CM-4 or you can configure the users, groups, and their permissions to allow for more control.  You can connect a UPS to the CM-4 for automatic and safe shutdowns in case of power interruptions.  You can also archive the CM-4 by connecting it to USB storage devices.

Direct Connect

You can directly connect the CM-4 to a PC using the Ethernet cable.  In this connection environment you will need to set the static IP address on CM-4 and the PC.  This will provide a very fast connection between the PC and the CM-4.  If PC has a Gigabit Ethernet port, then this connection will be substantially faster than USB 2.0 or 1394 connections.
